We transitioned Blakely into her big girl bed at the early early age of 16 months. She did amazing. I mean, really amazing…as in she never even attempted to get out! We had our reasons for moving her so early on, but with Parker life just went effortlessly with him in the crib (even at 2 and a half). Well, a week ago big boy was jumping in the crib and did a flip overboard, head first. I was thankfully in the room and caught him just before he hit the hardwoods…
It was time.
Problem was…we didn't have a bed, mattress, mattress cover or rails…so we tried this:
We planned on moving the kids into the same room to share anyways, so we decided to go ahead and move the crib mattress into Blakley's room for the night and just see how it went.
Blakley was so sweet about sharing her room. Ecstatic even…She decided to forgo her bed just to be next to him!
Look at that happy man, we thought to ourselves-easy peasy!
HA HA HA. Joke was on us. This boy did.not cooperate. After hours of just getting up and walking into the den where we were, I wised up and put up a gate. He then would hang off the top of the gate screaming at us…After hours. HOURS…we found him just like this. He was totally out, using monkey as a pillow!
He woke up in the middle of the night and just waltzed into our room. Nobody slept that night, and I mean nobody! We then decided to put him back in his crib until we had an actual bed set up.Sunday was his first official night in his big boy bed. He did okay…not great. Took him over an hour to fall asleep, and woke up around 3. We had a really fussy day yesterday, due to lack of sleep I'm sure!
Naptime was really difficult… This is how how we found my little buddy after approximately an hour and a half.
As for last night, I am so happy to report that although it took over 2 hours for him to actually go to sleep, he did go to sleep IN HIS BED! He slept until 7 am!!! YAY!
This has definitely not been one of our easier transitions!
